Today’s fast paced world has resulted in a change in the way we eat. The demand for more and more food service outlets has resulted in a high demand of employees with culinary training. The ability not only to cook, but also to manage personnel and develop items of varied appeal is highly prized in the hospitality field.
At The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Phoenix, students can put a career in culinary arts into action, the 12-quarter (36- month) Bachelor of Arts degree program offers students an opportunity to learn from seasoned educators and culinary professionals and become successful in this exciting and demanding field.
Students practice classical French cooking techniques and their application in a variety of cuisines. Once grounded in the basics, students develop skills in ethnic cuisines, food and wine pairing, and food styling. Cooking classes are complimented with hospitality related coursework in management, menu design, restaurant design, and wine and spirits.
Graduates leave the school with a comprehensive portfolio of their work and are prepared to find entry-level jobs with restaurants, hotels, food service institutions, catering, and other culinary or hospitality related business, such as food styling and food writing.

Advertising combines the creative mind and the logic mind into an innovative form of communication that brings forth the television ads we cannot forget, the billboards that intrigue us, the compelling radio spot that moves us, the internet banner that leads us deeper into a web site, and so many more forms of public communication. A team of copywriters, scriptwriters, artists, designers and other creative individuals, craft the messages that bring results to the advertising client. The Advertising program at The Art Institute of Phoenix prepares you to be a member or the leader of such a team.
The Advertising program infuses finely honed communication skills with business, marketing, design and media components. Students begin with the fundamentals of color and design and move forward, ever increasing their media skills and understanding. As these skills improve you will begin to build your portfolio and work toward the final project, an impressive advertising campaign incorporating various media to move an audience to a desired action.
Students graduate from this 36-month bachelors degree program with the training and portfolio required for an entry-level position in advertising leading toward positions such as account executive, account supervisor, advertising artist, art director, copywriter, computer artist, creative director, or other positions at advertising agencies, advertising departments, art studios, art departments, marketing companies, marketing departments, mass media companies, and media production companies.

For students who specialize in the Graphic Design program, emphasis is placed on developing skills in design for print and web, typography, color theory, illustration, and computer graphic production. Creative problem solving and decision-making are practiced at every level as the students are given design situations to solve. Graduates in this field have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in entry-level positions in advertising, graphic design, publishing, packaging, multimedia, Web design, and many other areas.

Fashion Marketing
The Fashion Marketing program prepares graduates for entry-level career opportunities in retail, marketing, and merchandising apparel and related products. The program emphasizes innovation and creativity with professional skills and technical knowledge necessary for successful entry into the apparel retail and marketing industry. Fashion Marketing students acquire in-depth knowledge of the apparel industry and fashion cycles. Course work in fashion history and design, manufacturing, and sales provide a foundation in the evolution of the apparel industry. Students explore consumer behavior and its role in driving fashion trends and purchasing patterns. Standard business practices including visual display design, catalogue design, marketing, and advertising as well as business development and management are additional focal points.

Digital Filmmaking & Video Production
Digital Media Production will provide students with the skills, confidence and organizational thinking necessary to participate in the new world of content creation. The program enables students to create compelling and accessible media content to be delivered on CD, DVD, Videotape, broadband Internet and other emerging distribution methods. Students will learn to formulate, construct, and deliver digital audio, video, broadcast graphics and animation. Graduates of Digital Media Production are positioned to be successful audio technicians, content acquisition specialists, demographics specialists, interactive video producers, media compression specialist and streaming server specialists.

Game Art & Design
Playing video games is one of the biggest entertainment pastimes.This program at The Institute offers game-oriented students an opportunity to design and create their own video and multimedia games. With studies in computer animation, architecture, and character building, students progress through a program that results in one or more game prototypes upon graduation. Employment in this industry is at a high level, and graduates of Game Art & Design are positioned to fit right into this growing profession.

Exciting opportunities such as animation artist, special effects artist, broadcast graphic designer, and video post-production artist are at the forefront of an industry that is repackaging information in creative new ways. The Visual & Game Programming Bachelor’s Degree program provides creative students who thrive on the technical aspects and principles of computer programming, an opportunity to become an integral part of the team the brings 3D games and interactive motion graphics to life. It’s part art and part computer science, with plenty of room for creative types who want to delve deeper into technical principles of games and visual effects.

Visual Effects & Motion Graphics is Design in Motion. Filmmaking and broadcast media rely on artists that can create stunning and believable visual effects that will transcend reality by integrating computer generated imagery with live-action. Students studying Visual Effects and Motion Graphics will place an emphasis on developing their artistic capabilities to create imagery for feature film composite effects, movie trailers, opening film title sequences as well as commercials, network identities, short promos, next-ons, and interactive communications. Students in this program will experience courses in Traditional Media, Graphic Design, Animation, Digital Audio, Digital Video, Post-production, Matte Painting, and Compositing. A few examples of potential careers for graduates in this field include entry-level commercial production artists doing broadcast design, compositing, matte painting, digital 2D art (rotoscoping), visual effects animation, and screen design.

Today, a book is not enough. People want to learn and experience new things via new media. That is Web design and interactive media. Students in this field learn how to produce media that attracts users while exposing them to new information. While studying various software packages, students produce their own examples of multimedia and Web pages that exemplify the new era of knowledge. Graduates in this field have a variety of entry-level opportunities, including CD production and Web site design.

Baking & Pastry Arts
The Baking & Pastry Arts program provides students with culinary skills combined with a focus on baking and pastry. This combination skill set and business knowledge enhances each graduate's ability to meet the challenges of an increasingly demanding and rapidly changing field. Two strengths of the program of study are an emphasis on culinary skills, as well as the core baking and pastry courses and the business courses. The program focuses upon both production and individualized skills necessary to gain employment in bakeries, restaurants, and other catering or institutional settings. In addition to technical skills, the program offers food safety and sanitation, nutrition and kitchen supervision/career development, and related business courses to support their professional skills for employment and supervision. The program also includes an internship at a quality food service operation and culminates with a Capstone project. This project consists of a complete business plan to open a commercial baking and pastry facility.Upon completion of the program, graduates may pursue entry-level positions as line cooks, pastry cooks, pastry chefs, caterers, cake decorators, or managers.
